Newton's Scoot Stopper helps relieve symptoms such as inflammation, scratching and scooting associated with anal itching and gland engorgement. The anal glands are tiny sacs on either side of the animal's anus. These sacs secrete a pungent fluid as fecal matter is excreted. The most common problem that arises is congestion or impaction of these glands. When this occurs, your pet may begin to "scoot" on the floor to help relieve itching associated with the anal gland inflammation. Newton's Scoot Stopper for Pets helps diminish "scooting" episodes by assisting the body's own natural ability to reduce inflammation and congestion. If anal gland congestion persists, a licensed professional should be contacted.
Animals that scoot are not trying to be funny or gross you out, they are trying to get relief from inflammation, infection, impaction of the anal glands, but sometimes even tumors. If you have a scooter, please have them examined by a vet first. If left untreated, a simple irritation can lead to infection, impaction and ultimately absessation and rupture. Anal sac infections are very painful for an animal, and become more difficult and uncomfortable to treat in later stages.
Normally a bowel movement is sufficient to express the anal sacs; however, food allergies or lack of dietary fiber, illness, weight issues, worms, skin infections, seborrhea and tumors can lead to this uncomfortable state that causes scooting.
While thankfully none of us here at Robbins Pet Care currently have a "scooter," there have been times in the past when we did. We cannot verify how well this product works.
